Archstone Foundation Grant helps launch a Village

Archstone Foundation Grant Supports Development of Incircle Village Network™ Long Beach-based Archstone Foundation has awarded Community SeniorServ a $50,000 grant to help launch a “village network” in Orange County. Villages are neighborhood based membership organizations that work to build welcoming communities for seniors, provide social supports, and coordinate affordable services. Villages help older adults ensure they will have access to services and support systems.

“We were delighted to recently receive a grant from the Archstone Foundation to pilot the Incircle Village Network™ in Orange County so that older adults may age in place with maximum independence and dignity,” said Holly Hagler, CEO at Community SeniorServ.

Incircle Village Network™ will start in Irvine, and Community SeniorServ will collaborate with the City of Irvine, Jewish Federation and Family Services, several other organizations and interested seniors to establish the Irvine Village Collaborative™. Anticipated services include: transportation; social activity coordination, discounted vendor referrals; volunteer-based concierge services including grocery shopping, gardening, and pet walking; culturally appropriate meal service; a friendly visitor program and a time bank where volunteers can exchange services.

Community SeniorServ plans to launch Incircle Village Network™ in mid-2012 and looks forward to expanding it to other Orange County locations in the future, based on the interest of seniors in local communities Groups or individuals interested in participating in the village network may contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
