News Release SCHA 2012

ANSWERS & Community SeniorServ Announce 2012 Senior Care Hero Awards ™

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 30, 2012

ANSWERS, a collaborative of professionals in the senior healthcare industry, announced today that it has permanently transferred stewardship of the Senior Care Humanitarian Awards to the event’s beneficiary, Community SeniorServ.  In parallel with this decision, Community SeniorServ announced that it is expanding the scope of the awards program and is changing it to the Senior Care Hero Awards™, also known as the SCHA Awards™.

ANSWERS organized and launched the inaugural Senior Care Humanitarian Awards last October at the Nixon Library. More than 350 guests from the senior care industry attended the event that recognized outstanding professionals who serve seniors, including physicians, nurses, social workers and administrators. Proceeds benefited Community SeniorServ’s Meals on Wheels program.

“ANSWERS is pleased to permanently turn the event over to the very capable and trusted hands of Community SeniorServ,” said Edward Schrum, the current Chairman of ANSWERS and President of Sonnet Home Health.   “ANSWERS will continue to actively support the awards, but this will enable us to concentrate on our primary goal of providing educational programs that meet the needs of senior citizens and their caregivers.”

“We are extremely honored that ANSWERS transferred the concept to us so we can ensure it continues to benefit seniors in need,” shared Holly Hagler, CEO of Community SeniorServ.   “Since this event engages many organizations in celebrating the contributions of the unsung heroes in the senior care industry, recasting it as the Senior Care Hero Awards™ captures the spirit of what this program is designed to convey.”

Planning of the 2012 awards program is underway and details will be unveiled soon.  For information about the 2011 awards, visit http://www.communityseniorserv.com/event-information/answers-event.html.  Information is also available at the ANSWERS website athttp://answerseldercareoc.com/?page_id=299.

Community SeniorServ is the largest Meals on Wheels and senior nutrition provider for at risk older adults in Orange County. Community SeniorServ also provides case management and in-home supportive services. The nonprofit also operates three Adult Day Care Centers.
