Sponsor A Senior

Be hope for a senior in need

Identifying Needs
Community SeniorServ’s case managers conduct regular in-home visits to each client receiving Meals on Wheels.  While conducting home assessments with senior clients, case managers often learn of unmet needs.   If unable to provide for these un-met needs through other funding sources in a timely manner, they are submitted to our Sponsor a Senior program.  Our charitable donors are given the opportunity to choose item(s) from the list they wish to provide.

Groups and Employers: Groups often enjoy sponsoring larger items.  Employers sometimes choose to sponsor a Friday Jean Day, offering employees the opportunity to wear jeans when they contribute $5 to benefit a senior need.

Individual Donors: Individuals may choose to designate their donations to be used with other individual donations to benefit a larger request. When enough individual donations have been received for a particular item, that item will bbe provided to the senior in need. Example: If 20 donors request their donation of $100 be used toward buying 'Floyd' dentures, Floyd would receive his dentures! Naturally you may make a general donation or choose smaller items from the list of needs below or contact Theresa Powell for more information and or updates on the list.

Vicente needs a  New or Slightly Used Hospital Bed

A new or slightly used hospital bed will make an enormous difference for both Vicente, a stroke victim with multiple health issues and his wife, his primary caregiver.  Vicente is bed- and wheelchair bound so his wife must lift him from one to the other, seriously taxing her limited physical strength.  Their $400 per month income does not allow for this purchase and they are without other resources to assist them with the purchase of the bed. A New Battery for Paul’s Scooter

Paul’s battery-powered scooter has allowed him to get out of his residence and continue to connect with the community in which he lives.  At 88, his quality of life is significantly improved when he is able to spend time with others and he has not let his age hinder him.  Unfortunately,  a dead battery has prevented from the socialization that is so important to Paul’s well-being.  Paul cannot afford to purchase another scooter battery –$170 will provide a battery and the freedom to socialize again.   For more information on how to help Vicente contact Theresa at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 100% of all donations for our Sponsor A Senior program will be applied toward providing needed items to seniors. Receipts will be given upon request.
