Frank

Frank needs a Reclining Wheelchair to go Outdoors. Frank is a 69 years old recent amputee going to dialysis 3 times weekly. He receives Meals on Wheels and lives with his wife who is his primary caregiver in a small apartment. Until recently, Frank was able to ambulate using his walker and electric wheelchair. When his leg was amputated, Frank became bedbound, and is no longer able to use either of these devices any longer. Frank also experiences chronic back pain resulting in the inability to stay in a sitting position without sliding off the chair. Due to this limitation, his wife has requested a reclining wheelchair with an elevated footrest so she could wheel Frank outdoors to breathe the fresh air, enjoy the sun, and maintain his daily activities. Due to client’s limited income, client is not able to afford the reclining wheelchair on his own. Insurance will not cover the chair because of prior approval for the electric wheelchair. (insurance can only approve one item every 4 – 5 years.) Estimated cost: $425
