Meals On Wheels
MEALS ON WHEELS:
SeniorServ prepares and delivers three meals daily directly to the home of homebound, frail, socially isolated seniors living in central, and north Orange County.
A registered dietician plans the meals to provide 100% of the U.S. Nutritional Recommended Daily Allowance - consisting of a cold breakfast, a frozen lunch and dinner.
Our program is more that just a meal. In addition to meals, clients benefit from the daily contact of delivery drivers, as well as the calls and visits from our case management team who regularly check on their well-being.
- Good nutrition is the foundation of health regardless of age.
- Meals on Wheels allow frail seniors to continue living at home independently avoiding premature institutional care.
- Clients benefit from the daily contact of delivery drivers, as well as the calls and visits of case workers who regularly check on their well-being.

Following the "Title III" guidelines under the "Older American's Act", eligible clients of SeniorServ's Meals On Wheels Program are:
- Homebound and frail seniors (age 60 and older) that are so by reason of illness, disability or isolation
- Other eligible individuals include a "Spouse" and/or "Disabled Dependent" of a client (regardless of age or condition) if after an assessment concludes that it is in the best interest of the client for these individuals to receive meals (priority is given to the higher needs and/or older adult).
- Residing in SeniorServ's service area of central and north Orange County
When routes are full and there are no open spaces for delivery or when funding prohibits adding additional elders the priority for service is reviewed and the person is placed on the waiting list in order of meeting the established criteria, not necessarily, on a "first come, first served basis."
Any donation, no matter how large or small, is always greatly appreciated and accepted although no individual will be turned away due to inability to donate. The suggested donation for qualified home delivered meals is $4.50/day.
Referrals for Service
Referrals may be made by any concerned individual, family members, neighbors, social workers, physicians, hospital discharge planners, or any other person by calling the Home Services Department at (714) 823-3294.
FULL PAY MEALS ON WHEELS:
What is full pay?
The Full Pay program is Community SeniorServ’s full cost meals on wheels program for north, west, and central Orange County.
This program is available to individuals that do not meet the mandatory criteria for our donation based meals on wheels program. Anyone is eligible for the full pay meal program, depending upon availability in the city of residence.
Cost & Billing
The cost of the full pay meals is $10.00 per day. An initial deposit of $100 is required to begin services. This deposit is refundable upon cancellation of services if the client’s account does not have a remaining balance.
Billing takes place at the beginning of each month based on the number of service days provided during the previous month. Payments must be submitted within ten days of the day you receive your bill. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of services.
What are the meals like?
Clients receive a frozen dinner and lunch (to be heated in the microwave or oven), and 1 milk per day. CSS offers a “no concentrated sweets” diet that is suitable for some diabetics; however these individuals are still responsible for monitoring their own diet. The average daily sodium content is 2,500-3,000 mg for lunch and dinner. The meals are considered to be a “no salt added” diet.
Meals are delivered Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00AM and 3:00PM.
Meals can be cancelled at any time by calling (714) 823-3294. If meals are cancelled, the last bill will be sent at the end of the month in which the cancellation was requested. The client will have the option of deducting the amount from their initial deposit or paying it in full once they receive the bill. A deposit refund check is mailed within 7 days after the last payment is received.
